BARBARA I GONGINI FALL/WINTER 2016
BARBARA I GONGINI - AUTUMN/WINTER 2016 COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK
Expect the unexpected is the general rule of thumb when attending a show by Barbara I Gongini, a constant highlight during Copenhagen Fashion Week since her debut. As Gongini evolves her avant-garde style twisting through conceptual silhouettes, the nonchalant palette of black, is broken with grey and touches of white allowing focus to be drawn on the details accentuating the designer’s tenure in the business. For the Autumn/Winter 2016 Barbara I Gongini introduced bold graphical elements, easing the onlooking crowd into her collection with her take on casual wear.
Here after the theme shifts to Gongini's signature gothic elegance as the models sported draped overcoats accentuating the voluminous forms in raw textured fabrications layered with medium gauge knits and raw cut jersey and deconstructed headwear. Leather two pieces including racer jackets, biker jackets and leather pants with knee zipper detailing broke the mould and added a little more masculinity.
The heavy waxed jacket was eye-catching and artful in its construction and added a high end touch to fabric more associated with function over fashion. As the show drew to an end a trio of white ensembles were sent down with an interpretive ballet performance captivating the audience with a spectacular finale to yet another successful show.
