CURTIS LI STUDIO - SPRING/SUMMER 2017
CURTIS LI STUDIO - SS17 - INHERENT
CURTIS LI STUDIO‘s SPRING SUMMER 2017 collection expresses the un-breakable rule of the modern-day political system, The Separation of Powers. Over one and a half years ago, a revolution against the government broke out in Hong Kong. Being part of this movement, Curtis deeply felt the tensions and conflicts between the two sides in the society occurred under the lack of the basic human instinct - Humanity; and designed a collection that was inspired from the aftermath created by this incident at that time.
The current collection focuses on Curtis’s point of view of what’s essential to build a balanced and non corrupt government, something he regards as inherent. Integrating this idea into the pieces, blocks and panels are installed subtly on garments representing the separations between both sides.
Clean-cut garments form the foundation aesthetic of the collection, while interpreting the brand’s High-End-Sporty directional image. Pieces such as perforated leather jackets, stone-washed leather jackets and pigment-dyed rucksacks with front pockets, sit alongside water-resistant sleeveless longline tunic tops, ergonomic constructed pants and high waist shorts, all constructed with premium Japanese fabrics, fusing avant-garde and sporty elements to create a dynamic yet minimal collection.
