INTRODUCING - MANONIK
Introducing Manonik, the brain child of a single entity (Yoshiyuki Minami) from a humble studio in Greenport, Brooklyn. Minami focuses on micro production, hand crafting singular objects at any given time for unparalleled design purity. The ever so trivial and fading trade of hand-crafting is the core of Manonik. Hand-weaving. Hand-knitting. Natural dyeing without the use of mordants. Pigmenting. Staining. Felting. Basket weaving. These methods are combined and altered in order to materialise artistic and design ideas without compromising the principles.
Spontaneity – the beautiful things that transpire unexpectedly in rigid processes – contributes greatly to the aesthetic quality and the development of new techniques. These blunders are never discouraged or amended, so long as they do not cause disfunction in the use of these objects. Spontaneity, is force that makes Manonik's objects distinctive.
Manonik curates and sources the finest materials. Its primary objective is to invest in and collaborate with artisans, small family businesses, and new, thoughtful ventures with similar values, who are referred to as Material Kins.
