SANDRINE PHILIPPE UNPLUGGED AUTUMN/WINTER 2016
SANDRINE PHILIPPE - UNPLUGGED AUTUMN/WINTER 2016
Sandrine Philippe, A pioneer within the avant-garde, pushing the boundaries of conceptualism to the point of obscurity, yet to be deemed a household name among the fashion elites the label continues to journey down the path of it's own creation gaining accolades and a devoted following along the way.
Unplugged; the Autumn/Winter 2016/17 presentation unleashed the animalistic and somewhat primitive aura within Sandrine's work revealing the compelling codes that make her menswear collections so intriguing. Deep ominous music sauntered around the space and reverberated against a dark background.
The accentuated silhouettes attached to each torso were protruding from the shadows, heavily textured and layered in juxtaposition to the slim cut pants with Sandrine's experimental and reworked leathers remaining the core focus of the fabrications. The mould is broken freeing the wearer of all his contemporary constraints, moving away from the more common path in this hyperactive and muddled world.
Raw seams and unfinished angles echoed throughout the collection, highlighting Sandrine's penchant for draping and layering. Acting as a second skin as the body molts, each look creates a dark and mysterious story, building a compelling sense of the unknown. A master storybook teller scripting new pages forcing the onlooker to reconsider the unknown and bidding farewell to the ingrained obsolescence of modern society, farewell to technology and au revoir to the numerical dictate of life.
