THE VIRIDI ANNE - SPRING/SUMMER 2016
PRESENTING - THE VIRIDI ANNE - SPRING/SUMMER 2016 LOOKBOOK //
Presenting the latest lookbook release from Japanese label The Viridi Anne. Born in Nagano and living in Tokyo, Tomoaki Okaniwa studied fine art and oil-painting at Tokyo Zoukei University. With an unfulfilling sense of wanting more and a longing desire to expand his creative skill-set Okaniwa wanted to create something that could connect people on the street rather than just simply hanging on a wall in a gallery, from this The Viridi-Anne was conceived in the year 2000. Spring Summer 2001 was the first official collection, and in August 2003, The Viridi-Anne opened up their flagship in Jingumae Tokyo. A mix of European inspiration and Japanese aesthetics, The Viridi-Anne’s cosmetic makeup is truly unique.
A comfortable mix of artistic roots with sensibility based around a typically dark and sophisticated colour palette, The Viridi-Anne’s Spring/Summer 2016 lookbook is a truly monochromatic masterclass. Entitled, “Ashes To,” it sets the tone for a mysterious backdrop enticing you through the rawness of the collection. Clean, sublime tailoring techniques are complimented by the use of natural fabrics. An artisanal design that is rooted in the Japanese Zen ideal of wabi-sabi, unconventional shapes take form along with a cutting edge vision. Minimal and to the point, the true beauty comes in the craftsmanship that is simply perfection. This is The Viridi-Anne at it’s best: those little details that make it count. The beauty of simplicity and the effect of time is clearly shown throughout The Viridi-Anne’s collection. We enter this world as dust, and we will return to the unknown as dust, but the garments will remain.
